Chungnam Begins Developing Rationale for Relocation and Attraction of Public Institutions to 'Innovation City'

[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is starting to develop a rationale for the relocation and attraction of public institutions within the innovation city.

On the 16th, the province held the 'Chungnam Innovation City Public Institution Attraction Advisory Group Meeting' at the provincial government office.

Previously, even before Chungnam was designated as an innovation city in October last year, the province prepared a strategy for attracting public institutions and set the attraction functional groups and public institutions.

The main attraction functional groups set by the province are ▲ Environmental Technology Functional Group for establishing environmental and research & development hubs and marine & environmental management hubs ▲ R&D Functional Group for creating an R&D hub for the main industries of the Pan-Yellow Sea region ▲ Culture & Sports Functional Group for establishing cultural industry and sports hubs.

The advisory meeting focused on preparing practical strategies for the relocation and attraction of public institutions tailored to these functional groups, and developing attraction rationales with suitability and justification through advice from various sectors.

The main discussion topics included ▲ Strengthening the rationale for the functional groups targeted for attraction to Chungnam Innovation City ▲ Reviewing customized attraction plans for each public institution ▲ Discovering additional institutions for relocation by functional group ▲ Responding to the establishment of public institution local relocation plans.

Yook An-su, Director of the Innovation City Policy Division of the province, said, “The province plans to actively engage in public institution attraction activities for the innovation city this year,” adding, “We will accept advice from all sectors of society to ensure that Chungnam Innovation City can serve as a regional growth hub through successful attraction of public institutions.”
