Economic and Social Changes Since COVID-19 at a Glance... Ministry of Economy and Finance and KDI Launch Statistics Website
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] On the 16th, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) announced the launch and operation of a statistical visualization website that allows the public to intuitively understand changes in life after COVID-19.
The visualization website is built to provide access to changes in our lives after COVID-19 across eight sectors: consumption, labor, finance, economy, daily life, culture, transportation, and education, based on administrative statistics and private data. It includes 21 statistical indicators showing changes after COVID-19, such as online and offline consumption changes, increases in non-face-to-face meetings and online cultural activities, and mobility changes. By utilizing private data aggregated daily and weekly, such as mobile app usage statistics and telecommunications company data, it enables faster information provision.
Additionally, by using interactive graphs, the public can set desired conditions (period, items, etc.) themselves to understand trends that meet their needs. The Ministry of Economy and Finance and KDI explained, "Through the launch of the statistical visualization website, we hope the public can quickly grasp the changes brought by the transition to a non-face-to-face society and adapt to the new trends."
Furthermore, a Ministry of Economy and Finance official added, "We will reflect the latest trends through periodic statistical updates and provide more in-depth information through infographics and analysis reports. We plan to continuously revise and supplement the site by incorporating suggestions received during future operations."
