Geumcheon-gu Private Small Libraries Receive Support for Book Purchase Expenses... Reading Culture Revitalization Project Contest
Call for Applications for Local Private Small Libraries until the 18th... Subsidies of 1 to 2 Million KRW per Library for Book Purchase and General Operating Expenses
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) is conducting the "2021 Private Small Library Reading Culture Activation Project Contest" until March 18 to create a city where books are read in every neighborhood in Geumcheon.
This contest was prepared to activate the role of small libraries as resident-oriented living cultural spaces and to support solid operation.
As of the announcement date (March 11), private small libraries registered in the area that operate at least 4 hours a day, 5 days a week, and are available to all residents are eligible.
If selected as a project recipient, subsidies ranging from 1 million to 2 million KRW per library can be provided under the categories of book purchase costs, event operation costs, and office management costs.
Libraries wishing to participate can download the application form and project plan from the "Notices" section on the district website, fill them out, and submit them via email (cerebrum23@geumcheon.go.kr).
Based on the submitted project plans, the Geumcheon-gu Local Subsidy Deliberation Committee will review and select support recipients in April.
Mayor Yuseonghun stated, "Through this project, we plan to establish a foundation where all residents can use high-quality book services even in private small libraries," adding, "We hope that not only the joy of reading but also opportunities to communicate with others and grow oneself will be discovered, leading to the spread of a book-reading culture throughout the neighborhoods."
