Jeonnam and Jeju Offices of Education Promise Provincial Council Support for 'Peace and Human Rights'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] On the 15th, the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced that Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members promised support and cooperation for the peace and human rights education agreement made with the Jeju Provincial Office of Education.
The signing ceremony was attended by Jeonnam Provincial Assembly members, Kwon Oh-bong, Mayor of Yeosu, and Jeon Chang-kwon, Chairman of the Yeosu City Council, who wished for the revitalization of peace and human rights education through the solidarity of Yeosu·Suncheon 10·19 and Jeju 4·3.
Yoo Sung-soo, Chairperson of the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly, stated, “We will support active commemorative classes, events, and experiential learning related to Yeosu·Suncheon 10·19 and Jeju 4·3 peace and human rights education in schools in the Jeonnam and Jeju regions.”
Assemblyman Lee Kwang-il also said, “We will do our best to support meaningful educational activities in the local field,” and expressed hope that the solidarity for peace and human rights between the two regions would be promoted more actively.
Assemblywoman Kang Jung-hee said, “I have continuously demanded the enactment of the Yeosun Special Act and the revitalization of education related to Yeosu·Suncheon 10·19 led by the education office,” and added, “Since Jeju and Jeonnam Offices of Education have signed the agreement, I hope peace and human rights education will be revitalized.”
Through this agreement, the two offices of education plan to provide administrative and financial support to ensure that peace and human rights education linking Yeosu·Suncheon 10·19 and Jeju 4·3 is actively conducted in schools.
