Oh Se-hoon Leads Park Young-sun Even Without Opposition Candidate Unification
'Within Margin of Error in Three-Way Race'
Oh Se-hoon 35.6% Park Young-sun 33.3% Ahn Cheol-soo 25.1%
[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] A poll released on the 15th showed that even if the April 7 Seoul mayoral by-election develops into a multi-candidate race, Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate, holds a lead within the margin of error. This indicates that he can lead even without the unification of opposition candidates.
According to a poll conducted by Realmeter commissioned by Munhwa Ilbo from the 13th to 14th among 1,030 Seoul adults (landline and mobile ARS, 95% confidence level with ±3.1% margin of error, rim weighting method), Oh received 35.6% in a hypothetical three-way race, leading Park Young-sun, the Democratic Party Seoul mayoral candidate, who had 33.3%, by 2.3 percentage points. Ahn Cheol-soo, the People’s Party Seoul mayoral candidate, received 25.1%.
In the preference survey for a unified opposition candidate, Oh also led. Oh received 39.3%, ahead of Ahn’s 32.8%.
If the opposition candidates unify and a two-way race unfolds, the unified opposition candidate was found to lead Park by a wide margin. In a hypothetical two-way race, Oh received 54.5%, leading Park’s 37.4% by 17.1 percentage points, and Ahn received 55.3%, leading Park’s 37.8% by 17.5 percentage points.
