AIG Sonhae Insurance Appoints Ramzi Toubasi as New President
Official Appointment as of April 1
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] AIG announced on the 15th that it has appointed Ramsey Toubasi as the new President and CEO of AIG General Insurance. Ramsey Toubasi is scheduled to officially assume office on April 1, succeeding Min Hong-gi, who will retire on March 31.
With over 24 years of industry experience, Ramsey Toubasi joins AIG General Insurance from AmMetLife Malaysia, where he served as CEO since 2014. Prior to that, he held the position of Vice President of Channel Management at AIA Life. Ramsey Toubasi began his career at AIG's New York office and has held executive roles in the United States, Lebanon, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
Stephen Barnett, CEO of AIG Asia Pacific, announced the appointment, stating, "AIG has a proud history in the Korean market," and added, "The appointment of Mr. Toubasi signifies AIG's strengthened commitment to the importance of the Korean market." He further said, "Based on Mr. Toubasi's proven strong track record in channel and partnership development and his deep industry expertise, we will continue to advance our dynamic and significant business."

Ramsey Toubasi said, "AIG is the first foreign insurance company to enter Korea and is highly recognized in the industry," and added, "I am honored to lead an excellent team at AIG and will establish strategic directions for the business while delivering differentiated value to partners and customers."
