Ha Tae-kyung on Jo Guk Sharing 'Park Hyung-jun Daughter Admission Suspicion': "The Most Shameless in the Universe"
Joguk, Deletion of Post on 'Park Hyung-jun's Daughter Admission Suspicion'
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, sharply criticized former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk on the 12th for sharing an article on his social network service (SNS) that dealt with allegations of admission fraud involving the children of Park Hyung-joon, the People Power Party’s candidate for Busan mayor, calling it "shamelessness at its strongest in the universe."
On the same day, Ha posted on his Facebook, "Former Minister Cho shamelessly shared fake news on Facebook claiming that candidate Park was involved in his daughter’s admission fraud," criticizing him.
He pointed out, "Former Minister Cho is currently on trial for allegedly forging a fake internship certificate for his child, and his wife was sentenced to prison for forging a certificate of commendation," adding, "Does he think everyone is the same as him in committing admission fraud, or is admission fraud not enough and he wants to add the charge of spreading false information as well?"
He continued, "As a public official who even served as Minister of Justice, the basic duty is to at least verify facts," and claimed, "Contrary to the malicious black propaganda shared by former Minister Cho, candidate Park’s daughter has never taken the Hongik University entrance exam or transfer exam."
Finally, Ha said, "Of course, there was no practical exam either," and criticized, "Claiming that she received high scores through favors without taking the exam is beyond sophistry; it is delusion."
Earlier, former Minister Cho shared a link to an article titled "Shocking Allegations of Admission Fraud Involving Park Hyung-joon, Busan Mayor Candidate’s Child" on his Facebook the day before. The article contained allegations that Park’s daughter took the practical exam for the Hongik University College of Fine Arts entrance in 2008, and that Park’s wife had visited a Hongik University professor at the time to ask for favorable treatment.
Netizens criticized this, saying it was inappropriate for former Minister Cho to post such content given that his own wife was convicted of admission fraud. Amid the controversy, former Minister Cho’s post has since been deleted.
Meanwhile, Jung Kyung-shim, a professor at Dongyang University and wife of former Minister Cho, was sentenced to four years in prison and detained in court last December in the first trial for admission fraud involving their daughter, Cho Min.
At that time, the court ruled, "Professor Jung actively participated in submitting her daughter Cho Min’s self-introduction letter and certificate of commendation to medical graduate schools, and all charges related to admission fraud were recognized as guilty."
