[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the 12th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will promote a housing environment improvement project for vulnerable groups to provide comfortable and stable homes to residents living in poor housing conditions.
To this end, the county will spend 618 million KRW on projects including ▲repair and maintenance for basic livelihood security recipients ▲renovation of old houses for low-income families ▲housing improvements for disabled persons in rural fishing villages ▲energy efficiency improvements for elderly living alone, and plans to identify vulnerable groups living in poor housing conditions and carry out customized housing environment improvement projects.
First, the ‘Repair and Maintenance Project for Basic Livelihood Security Recipients’ targets households that own homes or rent for free among basic livelihood security recipients, with differential support based on the age of the house and household size. The project targets 70 households with a budget of 500 million KRW.
The renovation project for old houses of low-income families, which has been continuously promoted since 2004, will focus on extensions and remodeling, finishing, heating, facility projects, and indoor bathroom installation, with a budget of 85 million KRW.
The housing improvement project for disabled persons in rural fishing villages supports 23 million KRW to install convenience facilities such as emergency contact devices, bathrooms, and kitchens in homes of severely disabled residents to enhance mobility and alleviate daily inconveniences.
The ‘Energy Efficiency Improvement Project for Elderly Living Alone’ plans to renovate 10 households by improving poor insulation conditions of low-income elderly living alone, including replacing old windows and boilers, with 1 million KRW per household.
The county plans to identify project beneficiaries from March and start extensions, remodeling, and repair projects from April. Households wishing to participate can inquire at their local town or township office or the Resident Happiness Division of the county office.
