Jinju City Imposes First Installment of Vehicle Environmental Improvement Charges... Over 26,000 Diesel Vehicles Affected

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that it will impose an environmental improvement charge of 1,152,760,000 KRW for the first half of 2021 on owners of approximately 26,000 diesel vehicles in the region.
The environmental improvement charge is a system that requires polluters to bear part of the costs necessary for environmental improvement, and it is imposed twice a year in March and September.
The amount imposed this time is based on the ownership period from July 1 to December 31, 2020. If there are changes such as vehicle sales, scrapping, or address changes during the period, the charge is calculated on a pro-rata basis based on the registration date.
