[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Choyoung] Kwon Eun-hee, floor leader of the People’s Party, hinted at the possibility of an alliance between the two figures, saying, "It seems we can look forward to the part where Ahn Cheol-soo and Yoon Seok-youl work together."
On the morning of the 11th, Floor Leader Kwon appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and acknowledged that the People’s Party had tried to recruit former Prosecutor General Yoon as a proportional representative in the 2016 20th general election.
Regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon’s rejection of the offer at the time, Floor Leader Kwon explained, "I cannot directly confirm the part where former Prosecutor General Yoon rejected it, but since the National Intelligence Service’s comment investigation was in full progress, there was a basic thought that we would do our best in that area and that politics should play its political role."
She added, "You can look forward to the part where Representative Ahn and former Prosecutor General Yoon work together," and said, "Representative Ahn and former Prosecutor General Yoon share values of justice and fairness and their roles regarding those values, and now that part is more urgently needed than ever. Former Prosecutor General Yoon also lamented and deplored the collapse of those values of justice and fairness and has stepped forward to play the necessary role."
Regarding former Prosecutor General Yoon’s role in this by-election, she stated, "It is a situation where the very important values of justice and fairness must be restored beyond a simple by-election victory, so considering priorities, I think he will consider that in March."
On the situation where demands are emerging for candidate Ahn’s entry into the People Power Party or for a merger between the People’s Party and the People Power Party ahead of the opposition’s unified candidate for Seoul mayor, she emphasized, "It is not a situation where it can proceed just because it is demanded. The party must go through a process of asking the opinions of party members," and added, "It is possible only when activities to set goals that reduce party differences and aim for change together are carried out simultaneously."
