Korea-India Foreign Ministers' Call: "High-Level Exchanges and Climate Change Cooperation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong held his first phone call since taking office with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, exchanging views on bilateral relations, COVID-19 response, and cooperation on the international stage.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 9th, the two ministers evaluated that based on the special friendship and trust between President Moon Jae-in and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the two countries have maintained the best special strategic partnership, and agreed to strengthen practical cooperation through closer communication even amid the COVID-19 situation.
They agreed to actively promote the resumption of high-level exchanges such as holding joint committee meetings between foreign ministers and foreign and defense (2+2) deputy ministerial meetings as soon as the COVID-19 situation improves.

Minister Chung explained the government's efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula. Minister Jaishankar stated that since India is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2021?2022, it will support substantial progress in the peace process on the Korean Peninsula. The two ministers also agreed to actively cooperate in responding to climate change, including at the P4G (Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit.
