Gwangju City Presents Citizen Programs at Jeonil Building 245 Jeonil Life Culture Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 8th that it will present various citizen programs at the Jeonil Life Culture Center inside Jeonil Building 245, which was reborn as a citizen historical and cultural space in May last year.
The Jeonil Culture Center opened in July last year to support establishing itself as a citizen cultural space by providing lifestyle culture programs where citizens can know, learn, and enjoy the uniqueness of Gwangju.
In particular, it is a lifestyle culture specialized space freely accessible to all citizens, consisting of an art workshop, club rooms, sound studios, encounter spaces, and the 245 Life Culture Broadcasting.
Main programs include ‘Omae Gwangju,’ which expresses the five charms of Gwangju through culture; ‘Gwangju Citizen Cultural Literacy Education,’ where citizens can enjoy culture and acquire basic knowledge; the non-face-to-face cultural experience ‘245 Life Culture Broadcasting’; and ‘Culture Day’ with local cultural figures, all offering enjoyable experiences without burden.
Among these, the Gwangju Citizen Cultural Literacy Education runs from March to December every Thursday (6:30 PM to 8:30 PM) and Saturday (2 PM to 4 PM), offering humanities lectures on Gwangju’s history and artistic literacy under the themes of ‘Artistic Fragrance,’ ‘Righteousness,’ and ‘Beauty.’
This month’s lectures include ‘Conversations with Gwangju Artists’ focusing on art (藝), ‘Organizing and Storage Artists’ teaching tidying-up know-how, ‘Smart Art Made with a Smartphone’ covering photography, video, and editing using a phone, and ‘Artistic Writing,’ a literature class on writing resumes or autobiographies.
The 245 Life Culture Broadcasting is a live streaming broadcast on the YouTube channel ‘245 Life Culture Broadcasting,’ airing every Tuesday from 2 PM to 3 PM with the ‘Only Gwangju Show’ and every Thursday from 2 PM to 3 PM with ‘Gwangju Song Stories.’
‘Only Gwangju Show’ delivers cultural news, quizzes to learn about Gwangju, and invites notable figures from Bitgoeul to share diverse stories about Gwangju. ‘Gwangju Song Stories’ offers a unique opportunity to listen to songs about Gwangju, singers from Gwangju, and songs created in Gwangju.
Additionally, the Jeonil Life Culture Center is preparing the ‘Gwangju Song Exhibition,’ introducing songs about Gwangju and singers from Gwangju in the 100-year history of Korean popular music, as well as a ‘5·18 Special Program’ consisting of rice ball experiences and meetings with 5·18 survivors.
Participation in Jeonil Life Culture Center programs can be applied for through the Jeonil Life Culture Center website.
