The People Power Party boycotted the hearing, raising issues with Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo recommending Park as a candidate.
Han Byung-do, the ruling party secretary of the Public Administration and Security Committee, stated, "Chief Justice Kim made the recommendation of the election commissioner in accordance with the Constitution," adding, "Not making the recommendation would be a dereliction of duty."
