'Sorim Soccer' Wu Mengda Dies of Liver Cancer
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Hong Kong's famous actor Wu Mengda, known for his roles in 'Shaolin Soccer' and others, passed away on the 27th due to liver cancer, according to Hong Kong media outlets such as Sing Tao Daily.
Wu Mengda formed a duo with Stephen Chow and delivered memorable performances in films like 'King of Comedy', 'A Chinese Odyssey: Part Two ? Cinderella', and 'Shaolin Soccer'. Recently, he also appeared in the 2019 Chinese box office hit 'The Wandering Earth'.
Chinese-speaking media mourned him using nicknames such as 'Da Shu' and 'Da Ge'. According to Pengpai, Stephen Chow said, "He was my longtime partner and friend. I still cannot accept this," expressing his condolences.
Liu Dehua, who co-starred with him in 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber', said, "I hope he is no longer in pain or worry there," and Taiwanese actor Lin Zhen expressed, "He will forever remain in our hearts."
