Choi Jong-geon, Deputy Foreign Minister, Meets with Australian Ambassador to Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 25th, Choi Jong-geon, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Catherine Jane Raper, Ambassador of Australia to Korea, and exchanged wide-ranging views on Korea-Australia bilateral relations, multilateral cooperation, and regional situations.
Both sides agreed to deepen and expand the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year. Vice Minister Choi expressed hope that while necessary quarantine measures are maintained amid the COVID-19 situation, economic and human exchanges between the two countries would be normalized.
They evaluated the first Korea-Australia ASEAN Policy Dialogue held on the same day and agreed to continuously explore the possibility of cooperation between Korea's New Southern Policy and Australia's Indo-Pacific Strategy. They also shared concerns about the political situation in Myanmar and agreed to cooperate with the international community for a democratic and peaceful resolution.

Additionally, Vice Minister Choi requested Australia's active participation in the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Summit, which the Korean government is planning to host.
