Police Conduct Additional Search and Seizure at SK Innovation Over 'Battery Technology Leak'
[Asia Economy Reporters Lee Gwan-ju and Lee Jung-yoon] The police have conducted another raid on SK Innovation, which is suspected of leaking trade secrets related to electric vehicle batteries.
According to the police on the 25th, the Security Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent investigators to the SK Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, this morning to carry out a search and seizure. A police official said, "It is true that a search and seizure is currently underway," but added, "It is difficult to disclose detailed information."
In May 2019, LG Chem filed a complaint with the police against SK Innovation and its employees for violating the Act on the Prevention and Protection of Industrial Technology Leakage. The police conducted two raids on SK Innovation in September of the same year. In July last year, LG Chem again filed a complaint, accusing SK Innovation of infringing on secondary battery trade secrets.

The dispute between the two companies continued in the United States as well. On the 10th of this month (local time), the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) partially accepted LG Chem's claims against SK Innovation and issued an order banning the import of certain SK lithium-ion batteries for ten years.
