[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) is calling for applications for the 'Our Village Support Project' until March 7 to promote village community projects planned and executed by residents.
This project plans to establish a village community foundation suited to the characteristics of Jongno through systematic support from the early stages of gatherings to growth, strengthening public interest by discovering various social agendas.
In particular, considering the prolonged COVID-19 situation, new projects related to recent issues such as resource circulation and care will be discovered, and projects that can be conducted non-face-to-face will be actively supported.
The fields include ▲Health (medical volunteering, healthy cooking classes, health gymnastics, communal meals) ▲Gardening (village vegetable gardens, village horticulture, rooftop greening) ▲Culture (crafts, theater, village exhibitions, resident concerts, cultural programs) ▲Education (care, co-parenting, parent education, after-school village schools, humanities lectures), among others.
Eligible applicants are resident groups or organizations with three or more members residing or working in Jongno-gu. Selected projects can receive up to 5 million KRW per project for publicity costs, printing costs, consumable supplies, instructor fees, meal expenses, and other items.
Applications must be submitted by 6 p.m. on March 7 through the Seoul Village Community Comprehensive Support Center website after receiving prior consultation at the Village Autonomy Center and assistance with proposal writing by March 5. The document forms must be downloaded from the district office website.
The district plans to select the final recipients through a first screening by a public-private evaluation team in March-April, revision consulting, review by the Village Community Committee, and the Local Subsidy Deliberation Committee, and to provide subsidies in April.
Selected project leaders must participate in training sessions on understanding village community projects and accounting in April and October. At the end of the year, a performance sharing meeting will also be held where the selected resident groups share their activities and build camaraderie.
