According to local political circles on the 22nd, this report meeting, scheduled for 10 a.m. on the 24th at the National Assembly Main Building Floor Leader's Meeting Room, was promoted to seek ways to lead South Korea's 2050 carbon neutrality achievement through Honam RE300.
Attendees include Lee Nak-yeon, Democratic Party leader; Kim Tae-nyeon, Democratic Party floor leader; Hong Ik-pyo, head of the Democratic Research Institute (Chairman of the Policy Committee); Woo Won-shik, chairman of the National Balanced Development Special Committee; Lee Kwang-jae, head of the K-New Deal Headquarters; Kim Seong-hwan, chairman of the Green New Deal Committee; Kim Seong-ju, chairman of the Jeonbuk Provincial Party; Kim Seung-nam, chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Party; Song Gap-seok, chairman of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Party; Song Ha-jin, governor of Jeonbuk Province; Kim Young-rok, governor of Jeonnam Province; Lee Yong-seop, mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; service evaluation committee members; and related personnel from the service company’s Technology and Value department.
Prior to this service presentation, at the end of October last year, the Gwangju branch of the Korea Electric Research Institute was requested to conduct a technical review of Honam RE300 (including transmission and distribution systems and flexibility support).
Subsequently, in December of the same year, a discussion on the Electric Research Institute’s review report was held, and on the 23rd of last month, participation was confirmed by the Democratic Research Institute, Democratic Party Jeonnam Provincial Party, Jeonbuk Provincial Party, Gwangju City Party, Jeonnam Province, Jeonbuk Province, and Gwangju City.
On the 25th of last month, a bid announcement for the service company was made, and the company was selected on the 5th.
This project aims to secure energy from Saemangeum solar power and Sinan offshore wind power, consume it within Honam, and supply the surplus energy to other regions. Methods are also being explored to return part of the income generated in this process to local residents.
