Gangdong-gu Gangil, Garaeyeoul, Amsa, Sangil, Gildong, Iljasan Community Garden Plot Leasing
Applications for over 1,400 slots accepted from the 22nd to 26th, selection by lottery
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] In these times of many restrictions on activities due to COVID-19 concerns, there is a way to healthily overcome the COVID crisis by enjoying outdoor activities under warm sunlight and boosting your immune system through eco-friendly food.
Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is recruiting participants for the "2021 Gangdong-gu Urban Garden" from the 22nd to the 26th.
The gardens available for lease are located in Gangil, Garaeyeoul, Gildong, Amsa, Sangil, and Iljasan, totaling 6 locations with about 1,400 plots.
This year, unlike previous years, participants will be selected through a lottery among applicants.
Any resident of Gangdong-gu can apply for one plot per household.
The cost is 70,000 KRW per plot (12㎡), and for the 'Gangil Garden-style Garden,' it is 300,000 KRW per plot (80㎡). Basic livelihood security recipients, low-income families, and families with three or more children receive a 50% discount, while families with two children receive a 30% discount.
The district will support participants by providing one bag each of organic fertilizer for the first and second half of the year, eco-friendly pesticides, and agricultural tool rentals. For beginner farmers trying gardening for the first time, online education and distribution of educational booklets will also be provided.
Applications can be submitted through the Gangdong-gu Urban Agriculture Portal website, and participants will be selected by an electronic lottery on March 8.
Elderly people aged 65 or older and persons with disabilities who have difficulty using the internet can also apply by phone through the Urban Agriculture Division of Gangdong-gu Office.
