As of midnight on the 20th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk region increased by 19 (including 3 imported cases) from the previous day, totaling 3,141 cases (including 51 imported cases).
New cases by region are 9 in Uiseong-gun, 3 in Gyeongsan-si, and 1 each in Pohang-si, Andong-si, Gumi-si, Yeongju-si, Sangju-si, Gunwi-gun, and Uljin-gun.
Among the 9 new cases in Uiseong-gun, 8 are contacts of 'Uiseong 52,' who was confirmed positive on the 17th. The other case is a contact of 'Uiseong 56,' who was confirmed the previous day. Since the 16th, 24 people have been confirmed positive in Uiseong-gun over four days, creating an emergency situation.
In particular, 'Uiseong 52' is emerging as a super-spreader, as 7 close contacts tested positive the previous day. Among these confirmed cases, some are linked to the cluster infection at Uiseong Tapsan Hot Springs, making it difficult to classify the infection routes.
In Gyeongsan-si, one family member of a daycare center child who was confirmed positive the previous day, one family member of a Uiseong-gun confirmed case infected after contact with a Ulsan confirmed case, and one overseas entrant were confirmed positive.
In Pohang and Yeongju, one contact each of previously confirmed cases tested positive, and in Andong, one person was confirmed during the process of preparing for hospitalization. Additionally, in Sangju, one employee tested positive during proactive testing at a high-risk facility, and in Gunwi, one contact related to the Uiseong hot springs tested positive.
One confirmed case each in Gumi and Uljin regions are imported cases.
