"Capture Demand for 'Luxury Instead of Travel'... Department Stores' Successive Discount Events"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Domestic department stores are successively launching overseas luxury brand discount events. This is a response to the increase in consumers seeking 'luxury instead of travel' as overseas travel has been restricted due to COVID-19. As the age group consuming luxury goods becomes younger, popular overseas fashion brands favored by them are also included in the event items.
According to the distribution industry on the 19th, Lotte Department Store's overseas fashion select shop Lotte TOPS is holding 'Lotte TOPS Day' from today until the 28th. Lotte TOPS Day is an event held twice a year in February and August, offering an additional 10-30% discount on prices that were previously discounted only in stores. Customers can enjoy discounts of up to 40% off the regular price. About 80 brands across four categories?accessories, clothing, shoes, and living?are participating in this event.
The 'Ferragamo Vara Bow Camera Bag' is sold at approximately 20% off the regular price for 559,200 KRW, and the 'Givenchy Antigona Small Black' is sold at about 15% off for 1,869,150 KRW. Popular overseas clothing items are also featured. The 'Thom Browne Diagonal Stripe Hooded Zip-up' and 'Paul Smith Zebra Patch Knit' are sold at about 10% off the regular price for 863,100 KRW and 143,100 KRW respectively. A variety of overseas sneaker products, which have recently gained popularity among younger generations, are also available.
From the 22nd to the 28th, Lotte ON’s Lotte Department Store Mall will also showcase TOPS product events. Due to the recent increase in demand for purchasing luxury goods through online shopping, the quantity for this online event has been increased more than fourfold compared to the previous year.
Shinsegae Department Store Gyeonggi Branch is presenting the 'Overseas Famous Brand Exhibition' until this weekend (21st). A total of 43 brands including Emporio Armani, Maison Margiela, Herno, and Alexander Wang are participating, offering discounts of up to 80%.
