Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-su) held the ‘February 2021 Degree Conferment Ceremony’ at 10:30 a.m. on the 19th in the university theater. The event was live-streamed on YouTube.
The number of graduates on this day was 3,298 in total: 2,991 undergraduates, 222 master's students, and 85 doctoral students.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, only 80 people attended the ceremony venue, including 2 special award recipients, 8 representatives among bachelor's and master's degree recipients, 50 doctoral degree recipients, and staff.
Due to COVID-19, no guests such as parents were invited, and the singing of the national anthem was omitted. Attendees refrained from handshakes and only bowed to each other, and thermal cameras were used at the entrance to check the temperature of entrants.
Starting at 10:30 a.m., Pukyong National University live-streamed the degree conferment ceremony for about an hour on the university’s official YouTube channel. The event proceeded in the order of national ceremony, academic report, president’s speech, awards, degree conferment, and commemorative photos.
On this day, the top undergraduate student, Park Jin-woo from the College of Future Convergence (Department of Electrical, Electronic and Software Engineering), received the President’s Award, and Jeon Woo-seon (Department of International Trade) received the Alumni Association President’s Award.
From the 18th to the 25th, Pukyong National University lent graduation caps and gowns to graduates and allowed commemorative photos on campus to share farewell sentiments.
Graduation certificates can be collected by visiting the undergraduate office or received by mail.
President Jang Young-su said in his congratulatory speech, “I warmly embrace each graduate who has endured the painful time of the COVID-19 pandemic and reached this precious moment of graduation, and I express deep consolation and gratitude for your journey so far.”
