Korea-US-Japan Hold First Trilateral Talks Since Biden Inauguration... Discuss North Korea Nuclear Issue
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the morning of the 19th, Noh Kyu-duk, Chief Negotiator for Peace on the Korean Peninsula, held a trilateral video conference on North Korea's nuclear and North Korean issues with Sung Kim, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, and Takehiro Funakoshi, Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This trilateral consultation among Korea, the U.S., and Japan was the first since the inauguration of the Biden administration.
During the video conference, the three countries shared assessments of the recent situation on the Korean Peninsula and agreed to closely cooperate and coordinate to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the establishment of lasting peace.
