KOICA Supports COVID-19 Prevention Supplies in Guatemala
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) announced on the 19th that it has supported the Wewetenango Provincial Maternal Hospital in Guatemala with 20,000 protective masks and over 5,000 protective suits to help overcome COVID-19.
Wewetenango Province has many vulnerable impoverished groups, with the highest rates of infant malnutrition and mortality in Guatemala. As a border area adjacent to Mexico, where numerous immigrants from across Central America gather, the risk of infectious disease spread is high, making it urgent to secure protective supplies within hospitals.
The provided protective supplies will be prioritized for frontline COVID-19 medical staff and mothers.
