Dobong-gu Lights Jungnangcheon with Lanterns Carrying Residents' Wishes for Jeongwol Daeboreum
Community Wishes Shared Online Displayed During Jeongwol Daeboreum Period Wishing for the End of COVID-19 and Health This Year... Full Moon Selfie Event, Photo Zone, Cheongsachorong-gil, and Family-Friendly Activities Along Jungnangcheon
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Dongjin Lee) prepared a Jeongwol Daeboreum event on the 26th to wish for a year of hopes, health, and the end of COVID-19 in celebration of the New Year’s first full moon.
This event is held without face-to-face gatherings in accordance with COVID-19 social distancing measures.
The participation program, where residents write down their wishes, accepts applications online in advance, while the photo zone and wish lantern exhibition can be freely viewed by families strolling along Jungnangcheon Stream.
Online wish submissions are open from February 16 to 22.
The wishes from residents, delivered through the Dobong-gu Office blog and KakaoTalk Culture Dobong channel, will be exhibited along with wish lanterns illuminating Jungnangcheon Stream, created with the talent donations of local calligraphy artists.
The wish lantern exhibition runs from the 25th to the 26th.
Sending a photo of the full moon also earns a gift. Those who send a creative and freely expressed 인증샷 (proof shot) with the full moon as the background via email (white1214@dobong.go.kr) between the 24th and 28th will be awarded a mobile gifticon worth about 10,000 KRW, sponsored by StoryTree, if selected.
The 인증샷 will be reviewed by a central judging committee in early March, and selected participants will be contacted individually. However, wearing masks and following quarantine guidelines during photo shooting is mandatory.
Since face-to-face participation is difficult this year due to COVID-19 social distancing, the district focused on various attractions in the event area to allow residents to fully enjoy the Jeongwol Daeboreum atmosphere while exercising by walking along Jungnangcheon Stream. These include an LED wish message (moon) at the center of the venue, a moon-viewing photo zone (Stairway to Heaven, Angel Wings), an LED tunnel, and a Cheongsachorong Lantern Path.
These lights, which will brighten residents’ health and wishes throughout the year, will decorate the nights of Jungnangcheon Stream from February 24 to March 7.
The core of this Jeongwol Daeboreum event is ‘safety.’ A district official emphasized that since the COVID-19 situation remains serious, visitors must maintain social distancing and wear masks when viewing all facilities, including the wish lanterns.
