This business agreement aims to expand the solar power generation facility construction case at the Busan-Gyeongnam Training Center, which SBC and Kepco Solar, a subsidiary of Korea Electric Power Corporation, conducted as a pilot project last year, to training centers nationwide.
SBC operates training centers in Ansan, Gyeonggi; Gwangju; Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk; Changwon, Gyeongnam; and Taebaek, Gangwon, and is preparing to open the Chungcheong Training Center in Cheonan, Chungnam this year. Through the agreement, SBC and Kepco Solar will install and operate solar power generation facilities in idle spaces of SBC training centers nationwide. SBC will lease spaces such as parking lots or rooftops, and Kepco Solar will operate commercial power production facilities and provide solar power generation facilities for internal consumption at the training centers.
Through this, SBC can save budget by installing solar power generation facilities without additional cost, and about 15% of the total generation capacity will be used for internal consumption at the training centers, expecting an effect of reducing electricity bills. SBC plans to contribute to achieving the government's 'Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan' through solar power generation and fulfill the social responsibility of public institutions by reducing greenhouse gases and carbon emissions.
