Boseong-gun Promotes Free Soil Testing to Check Nutrient Status of Your Fields and Farms
Accurate Testing for Adjusting Lime Amount... Cost Reduction and Protecting Soil Environment, Two Benefits in One
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong County announced on the 18th that it is actively promoting free soil testing for farmers in the area.
Soil testing is a scientific agricultural service that analyzes nine items including soil acidity (pH), organic matter, available phosphorus, silica, cations, and electrical conductivity to understand the nutrient status of the soil and calculate the appropriate amount of fertilizer to apply.
In particular, it is recommended to conduct the test before spreading compost or fertilizer, as this ensures accurate test values and allows calculation of the required fertilizer amount. Testing is advised from immediately after crop harvesting until before planting the next crop.
For testing, farmers should collect about 500g of soil evenly from 5 to 10 points at a depth of 15cm after removing surface debris, place the sample in a sample bag, and submit it to the Agricultural Technology Center or the farmers' consultation office in the town or township.
All testing services are free, and it takes about two weeks after submitting the sample.
After testing, a fertilizer prescription indicating the current soil nutrient status and the appropriate basal and top dressing fertilizer amounts for each crop will be mailed to the address.
