View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Seunghyun] Kim Jongsik, Mayor of Mokpo City, Jeonnam, announced a letter on the 18th titled "Thank you to the citizens who are working hard to overcome COVID-19."
In the letter, Mayor Kim said, "No COVID-19 cases occurred in Mokpo during the Lunar New Year holiday period," and added, "I deeply thank the citizens who refrained from visiting their hometowns and actively practiced social distancing."
Mayor Kim stated, "As COVID-19 has continued for over a year, everyone is tired and struggling, but Mokpo is maintaining a clean area thanks to the excellent civic and community spirit," and added, "Warmth that cares for neighbors in difficult circumstances is spreading."
Regarding disaster relief funds, he urged, "Citizens who have not yet applied for disaster relief funds should apply and use them appropriately, hoping it will support their households and Mokpo's economy."
He also expressed gratitude, saying, "I thank religious facilities such as churches and cathedrals, city council members, and Mokpo City Hall officials who have worked to create a warm community by donating disaster relief funds to neighbors in greater need."

Mayor Kim emphasized, "Based on the resilience that has overcome difficult times, we will devote all our efforts to fostering three future strategic industries?renewable energy, seafood products, and tourism?as well as culture and arts, to dramatically advance Mokpo's development amid the COVID-19 crisis," and added, "I ask for your strength and wisdom until the day the COVID-19 situation ends."
