[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] On the 17th, the People Power Party's Legislation and Judiciary Committee members visited the Supreme Court and urged Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo to resign. Chief Justice Kim refused the resignation demand.
The People Power Party's judiciary committee members protested at the Supreme Court regarding Chief Justice Kim's absence from the National Assembly Judiciary Committee's plenary session that day.
During a meeting with Chief Justice Kim, People Power Party lawmaker Kim Do-eup said, "It has been repeatedly confirmed as lies," adding, "The court can only survive if you resign. Who among the people of the Republic of Korea can trust the court's judgment going forward?" In response, Chief Justice Kim said, "I have nothing more to say."
The People Power Party judiciary committee members have demanded accountability from Chief Justice Kim for false reports related to the resignation process of Busan High Court Chief Judge Im Seong-geun.
When Kim asked, "Are you saying you will not resign?" Chief Justice Kim replied, "Yes."
People Power Party lawmaker Yoo Sang-beom said, "Former U.S. President Richard Nixon resigned because of lies," adding, "At this point, you seriously need to consider your position."

The People Power Party lawmakers also raised the issue of judicial personnel appointments. People Power Party lawmaker Jeon Ju-hye pointed out, "There are judges who have been at the Seoul Central District Court for five or six years," and asked, "What is the principle?" In response, Chief Justice Kim said, "We consider various factors carefully when making appointments," adding, "Personnel decisions cannot satisfy every individual judge."
