Gwangju City Recruiting Participants for 'Smart City Challenge Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City is inviting companies to participate in the '2021 Smart City Challenge Contest' organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport until the 10th of next month.
The Smart City Challenge project is conducted in a way that companies, universities, and local governments participate together from the early stages of the project to solve urban problems such as safety, environment, transportation, and energy by utilizing creative ideas and solutions from private companies.
If a joint application by local governments and private companies is selected in April, the first phase will receive 1.5 billion KRW in national funding to promote a preliminary project that demonstrates the representative solution and plans the main project.
After the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's performance evaluation, if selected for the second phase, the project scope will be expanded and supported with a budget of 20 billion KRW over two years.
Companies wishing to participate in the contest should form a consortium with universities or research institutes, prepare a business plan, and submit it in person to the city's Smart City Division.
Gwangju plans to select one participating institution among the applicants to jointly apply for the first phase of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Smart City Challenge project. For more details, please refer to the announcement on the city’s official website.
