Volvo Korea Launches Pre-Orders for High-Performance and Eco-Friendly B6 Lineup with Price Reduction
XC90, S90, V90, XC60, and Others Targeted
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Volvo Cars Korea announced on the 16th that it will begin pre-sales of the new mild hybrid B6 lineup targeting customers who prioritize high performance, high efficiency, and eco-friendliness. The target models are the XC90, S90, 90 cluster, and XC60.
The newly introduced B6 engine by Volvo is a gasoline-based high-performance mild hybrid powertrain that replaces the existing T6 engine. It recovers energy generated during braking to support the gasoline engine, improving fuel efficiency while delivering agile engine response for smooth acceleration performance.
The B6 engine has a maximum output of 300 horsepower (5400 rpm) and a maximum torque of 42.8 kgm (2100~4800 rpm), reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 to 6.7 seconds (varies by model).
Additionally, this model comes standard with an all-wheel drive (AWD) system, a head-up display (HUD) that intuitively shows driving information on the road, and a drive mode selector that allows the driver to easily adjust preferred steering characteristics, enhancing driving capability and driver convenience.
Volvo also provides IntelliSafe, the company's advanced safety technology suite, as standard on all models. It includes ▲'Pilot Assist II,' which assists steering to maintain distance from the vehicle ahead and keep the car centered in the lane ▲City Safety emergency braking system with steering support that detects vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles, large animals, and collision risks at intersections ▲lane departure mitigation ▲collision avoidance with oncoming vehicles, among other latest active safety systems.
Furthermore, from the 2021 model year, features such as the 'Care Key,' which allows drivers to preset the maximum driving speed, and an advanced air purification system that filters ultrafine dust are also provided as standard.
To expand the adoption of eco-friendly powertrains, Volvo has priced the B6 models approximately 2.6 to 4.4 million KRW lower than the existing T6 models. The XC90 B6 AWD Inscription is priced at 92.9 million KRW (Inscription), about 2.6 million KRW less than the T6 model, and the XC60 B6 AWD Inscription is priced at 71 million KRW, 4.4 million KRW lower than the previous model. Other prices include ▲Cross Country (V90) B6 AWD Pro at 79.2 million KRW ▲S90 B6 AWD Inscription at 70.9 million KRW (all prices include VAT, before individual consumption tax reduction).
Volvo offers industry-leading free warranty and consumable replacement services for 5 years or 100,000 km. Additionally, all B6 vehicles are classified as Type 2 low-emission vehicles, granting benefits such as discounts on public parking lots, airport parking, and exemptions from congestion charges in tunnels like Namsan 1 and 3 (varies by local government).
Yoon Il-mo, CEO of Volvo Korea, stated, "The new B6 engine is the optimal solution Volvo offers to customers who value performance, efficiency, and environmentally friendly consumption. We hope you experience the evolution of Swedish luxury through the B6 lineup, which embodies Volvo's philosophy of caring not only for road safety but also for the safety of the planet."
