'22-time Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist Chick Corea passes away'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] World-renowned jazz pianist Chick Corea passed away on the 9th (local time). He was 79 years old.
According to AFP, Corea was recently diagnosed with a rare cancer.
Chick Corea was the pianist for the Miles Davis Band in the 1960s and formed the fusion jazz group Return to Forever in the 1970s, producing hits such as "Spain".
He collaborated with jazz artists like Gary Burton and Herbie Hancock, and continuously engaged in creative activities by challenging classical music beyond electric and jazz fusion. He was nominated for the Grammy Awards 63 times and won 22 times.

Born in the United States, Chick Corea is considered one of the "greatest living jazz pianists" alongside Keith Jarrett and Herbie Hancock.
