Gyeongnam Arboretum Hosts Special Exhibition of Wildflower Pressed Artworks from Geumwonsan
Exhibition of Over 40 Pressed Flower Artworks Created by Employees
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] The Gyeongsangnam-do Forest Environment Research Institute is holding a planned exhibition of pressed wildflower artworks from Geumwonsan at the Forest Museum exhibition hall located within the provincial arboretum from the 10th until December 25th throughout the year.
This planned exhibition features works carefully created over a long period by employees of the Geumwonsan Forest Resources Management Office in Gyeongnam, who completed pressed flower training using wildflowers native to Geumwonsan Ecological Arboretum, directly collecting and drying the wildflowers themselves.
Pressed flower art is a form of sculptural art that expresses nature by compressing and drying plant flowers, leaves, stems, and fruits, and artistically arranging them.
This pressed flower exhibition utilizes materials including commonly seen wildflowers around Geumwonsan Ecological Arboretum such as Gujeolcho (Aster yomena), Haneulmalnari (Lilium amabile), Sansuguk (Hydrangea serrata), Gosari (Osmunda japonica), Masakjul (Clematis), as well as rare endemic plants that are difficult to encounter regularly like Gureumchekkot (Codonopsis lanceolata), Boksucho (Eranthis hyemalis), and Seomchorongkkot (Campanula takesimana).
Oh Seongyun, director of the Forest Environment Research Institute, stated, "Through this exhibition, we hope to widely promote the excellence of plant resources at Geumwonsan Ecological Arboretum, the only high-altitude arboretum in Korea, and provide an opportunity for healing the minds and bodies of residents exhausted by COVID-19 and for enjoying culture and the arts."
