[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, has been accepting applications for the '2021 Newlywed Couple Jeonse Loan Interest Support Project' at eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers since the 8th. The deadline is March 5.
The newlywed couple jeonse loan interest support, which has been implemented since 2019, is in its third year this year and is the first of its kind in Gyeongnam Province.
The city is promoting the newlywed couple support project to provide practical help in easing the housing cost burden for newlywed couples without homes, so that young people do not delay or avoid marriage due to economic reasons.
The support targets are newlywed couples without homes whose combined income is below 180% of the median income, who have been married within 7 years from the date of marriage registration, have received a jeonse loan from a financial institution, and both spouses currently reside in the city as of the announcement date. All these conditions must be met.
Support is provided once a year up to 1.2% of the outstanding jeonse loan balance, with a maximum of 1 million KRW. Families with children receive an additional 20% per child on the support amount, up to a maximum of 1.5 million KRW.
Lee Jeong-geun, Director of the Environment and Urban Affairs Bureau, said, "We hope to increase the birth rate by alleviating the housing cost burden for newlywed couples," adding, "To create a city that is good for having and raising children, this year we will also support jeonse loan interest for families with multiple children, concentrating all administrative efforts on marriage, childcare, and housing policies."
