Kia Launches Sales of Bongo III EV Special Vehicle Model
Launch of Naejang Flatbed, Power Gate, and Wing Body Models
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Kia announced on the 9th that it will begin sales of the Bongo III EV special-purpose vehicle models. The special-purpose vehicle models introduced by Kia this time are ▲cargo box trucks (low-floor, standard, plus types) ▲power gate ▲wing body models. These are based on the Bongo III EV extra-long wheelbase King Cab, which was launched in January last year.
The Bongo III EV special-purpose vehicles are equipped with a 135kW motor and a 58.8kWh battery, offering excellent climbing ability and a driving range of 177km on a full charge.
The low-floor cargo box truck can access underground parking lots (based on a height of 2.3m), while the standard and plus cargo box trucks have cargo compartment heights of 1580mm and 1810mm respectively, allowing for large cargo loads. The wing body model, which can open the cargo compartment sides like wings, provides excellent openness when the side doors are opened, making loading and unloading cargo convenient. The power gate uses a motor to electrically raise and lower the gate located at the end of the cargo compartment, helping to reduce work time.
The Bongo III EV special-purpose vehicles come with significantly enhanced standard convenience features. Exclusive to the Bongo III EV, features such as electric power steering, paddle shifters, push-button start smart key, and electronic parking brake are standard. Additionally, customer-preferred features like ventilated and heated driver seats, auto light control headlamps, and Hi-Pass automatic toll payment system are included as standard. The battery heating system, which shortens charging time in winter, is also standard on all models to prevent charging speed reduction during cold seasons.
Regarding safety, forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA), lane keeping assist (LKA), and driver attention warning (DAW) are offered as optional features on all models.
The prices for each model are ▲cargo box truck standard type 44.21 million KRW, low-floor type 43.24 million KRW, plus type 44.47 million KRW ▲wing body 44.91 million KRW ▲power gate 44.01 million KRW. When purchasing a vehicle, buyers can receive a government subsidy of 16 million KRW for electric cargo vehicles, local government subsidies (varying by municipality), and acquisition tax reductions up to 1.4 million KRW. Additionally, discounts on public parking fees and highway tolls are available.
