Yongsan-gu Recruiting Artists for Artterior Project...15 Visual and Sculptural Artists Needed by 15th...Activities from Feb 22 to April for About 3 Months...Up to 5.4 Million KRW Activity Fee Provided
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) is recruiting 15 artists (3 mid-level managing artists, 12 participating artists) to participate in the district’s Artterior Project until the 15th.
The recruitment targets are visual and sculptural artists (painting, sculpture, ceramics, installation, interior, design, etc.) residing in Seoul, with additional points given to artists currently living in Yongsan-gu or whose creative activities are based in Yongsan-gu.
The activity period is about three months from February 22 to April, and up to 5.4 million KRW worth of activity fees will be paid depending on the progress of the project.
Main activities include ▲ artterior activities for small business stores in the area ▲ interior and exterior space renewal (wall painting, window painting, interior space design, etc.) ▲ display design (wall decor, show window design, menu boards, decorative films, etc.) ▲ installation and exhibition of works (three-dimensional sculptures, sculptures, paintings, etc.) ▲ product and printed material design (mugs, tableware, packaging, business cards, stickers, etc.) ▲ branding and marketing.
Each artist will be matched with up to four stores to carry out design improvement work.
The project base is the Gyeongridan-gil area of Yongsan-gu (including five traditional markets in the area), and since the end of last year, the district has been recruiting participating stores, with 32 stores expressing their intention to participate so far.
The types of businesses are diverse, including restaurants, liquor stores, food manufacturing, coffee shops, florists, clothing retail, and nail art. Participating stores will receive a budget of about 1 million KRW for design improvement materials.
A district official said, “Artterior is a compound word of Art and Interior, referring to a design improvement project reflecting the needs of small business owners,” and added, “We hope many artists who want to work together for the community will show interest and participate.”
Those who wish to participate should complete an application form, eligibility confirmation, consent form for personal information provision, self-introduction letter, portfolio, etc., and submit them via email to Inter Art Channel (interartchannel@gmail.com).
Related forms are posted in the ‘News’ section on the district’s website.
The district will conduct an internal review and select successful candidates on the 17th. Results will be individually notified to applicants. An orientation for successful candidates is planned for the 22nd.
