Public Institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to Invest 3.9 Trillion Won in Regional Balanced New Deal This Year
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] Public institutions under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plan to invest a total of 3.9 trillion KRW in regional balanced New Deal projects this year.
On the 8th, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy held a 'Regional Balanced New Deal Review Meeting' with 14 major public institutions under its jurisdiction at the Korea Technology Center, discussing various agendas including this plan.
At this meeting, the ministry focused on reviewing the status and plans of regional balanced New Deal promotion by each public institution. It was confirmed that energy sector public institutions are promoting multiple projects, such as Korea Electric Power Corporation's 'Energy Valley Development Project,' Korea Midland Power's 'Establishment of SuSo Drone Charging Station in Jeju Island Utilizing Wind Power,' and Korea East-West Power's 'Expansion of Solar Power Business through the K-Solar 1000 Project.'
Directions for promoting innovative procurement and special inspections in preparation for the Lunar New Year were also key agenda items. Regarding innovative procurement, which encourages public procurement of innovative products, the approach is shifting from a 'supplier-centered' model last year to a 'demand-based innovative procurement' model starting this year. The plan is to promote research and development (R&D) based on public demand and link the results to public procurement, using this as an opportunity to improve public services and spread industrial innovation.

Also, during the holiday period, they must faithfully perform their core duties to ensure there are no inconveniences to the national economy and citizens' lives, including the operation and management of national key facilities, thorough implementation of quarantine measures, and stable supply of public services."
