Gwangju City to Hold 'Flower Consumption Promotion Event' Starting from the 8th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 7th that it will promote a flower consumption promotion campaign from the 8th to April 14th to alleviate the difficulties of small business owners such as flower farmers and flower shops suffering from management difficulties due to the impact of COVID-19.
First, on the 8th, the city will carry out the ‘Making a Flowering Holiday’ campaign at the City Hall Citizen Hall, encouraging giving flowers instead of holiday gifts.
In particular, due to social distancing caused by the year-long COVID-19 pandemic, which made it difficult to meet relatives or friends, the city plans to send messages encouraging people to give flowers through local flower shops or mobile platforms to promote flower consumption.
From the 17th, the city will operate ‘Flower Days’ every Wednesday for nine sessions, conducting non-face-to-face unmanned flower sales, and will also promote ‘Growing One Flowerpot per Person’ to provide vitality to the daily lives of office workers and citizens experiencing COVID blues (depression) through flowers.
Additionally, as a side event, ‘Our Wheat Bundle Gift Sets’ produced in the local area will also be sold.
Gwangju City plans to use this campaign as an opportunity to improve the perception of flowers as ‘gifts’ purchased on special occasions and to make flower consumption a part of everyday life, thereby expanding the base of flower consumption culture.
