[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Starting this year, all elementary, middle, and high school students in Busan will receive support for school trip expenses.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seok-jun) announced on the 4th that it will provide school trip support regardless of family circumstances to ease the financial burden on parents struggling due to COVID-19.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education began supporting school trip expenses starting with 2nd-year high school students in the 2019 academic year and expanded the support to 2nd-year middle school students in the 2020 academic year.
In the 2021 academic year, the support was further expanded to include 6th-grade elementary students, providing school trip expenses to all elementary, middle, and high schools.
For this year’s 3rd-year middle school and 3rd-year high school students, who did not receive support last year due to COVID-19, the office will provide temporary retroactive support for school trip expenses.
Based on a comprehensive survey of school trip expenses over the past four years, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has significantly increased the standard support amount for school trips this year to provide practical assistance to students.
For 6th-grade elementary students, 210,000 KRW per student will be supported; for 2nd-year middle school students, 220,000 KRW per student; and for 2nd-year high school students, 400,000 KRW per student.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to develop and implement models that consider crisis levels to safely conduct various school trips and field experience learning even amid the COVID-19 situation.
