Kwon Seong-dong: "Opposition's Role to Raise Suspicion of 'Treason' in North Korea Nuclear Document... Unusual Ruling Party Reaction"
If not, explain and persuade coldly
Political pressure and attacks are strange
Criminal punishment talk is about gagging the opposition party
It is unreasonable for individual public officials in the 탈원전 government to mention North Korea nuclear power plant ideas
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] On the 4th, Kwon Seong-dong, a member of the People Power Party, said, "If the North Korean nuclear power plant is true, the suspicion of treason is the opposition party's duty," adding, "If the suspicion is raised and it is not true, then a detailed explanation should be given and the public and opposition should be calmly persuaded."
On the same day, Kwon appeared on KBS Radio's Kim Kyung-rae's Strong Current program in the morning and said, "The opposition party does not have access to information. The ruling party and government have all the information. In such a situation, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials who were arrested for manipulating the economic feasibility evaluation of Wolseong Unit 1, which is subject to the Board of Audit and Inspection's audit, deleted documents that were not even subject to the Board of Audit and Inspection's audit," he stated.
Kwon said, "From the opposition's perspective, would the Moon Jae-in administration, which aimed to phase out nuclear power, consider building nuclear power plants for North Korea? This is strange. During the first and second inter-Korean summits, there were talks about supporting electricity to North Korea, handing over USBs, and the New Economic Map initiative. Around that time, Kim Jong-un repeatedly said that 'North Korea's nuclear power plant construction capability must be enhanced' and visited Sinpo again," adding, "From the opposition's standpoint, it is common sense to have reasonable doubts and to raise suspicions."
He continued, "If suspicions are raised and it is not true, then a detailed explanation should be given and the public and opposition should be calmly persuaded, but the ruling party suddenly responds with political offensives," adding, "Suddenly, they accuse us of North Wind operations, which is an outdated political relic. When the Blue House spokesperson makes a statement and the president says a word, the Democratic Party leader and pro-Moon members swarm out to politically pressure and attack us, so we find it even more strange."
Kwon said, "When the Democratic Party was in opposition, they raised many more suspicions over lighter matters," adding, "If they say suspicions cannot even be raised and then threaten criminal punishment, it is like gagging the opposition, which is even stranger. That is how I see it."
He also raised suspicions about the fact that a public official considered building nuclear power plants for North Korea as just an idea under the phase-out government. Kwon said, "If that official is not a public servant with zero political sense, there would be no reason to consider this, and since it is not feasible, there is no reason to consider it even as an idea," adding, "Even assuming North Korea's denuclearization, there must be instructions from above."
Kwon said, "I have worked at the Blue House, Ministry of Justice, and Supreme Prosecutors' Office and have written many reports, but a report written by a single administrative officer and reported up to the director or bureau chief would not have a cover page that does not indicate it is the government's official opinion but just a simple review opinion," adding, "Ask a public official. This is very unusual, almost never happens."

Furthermore, Kwon pointed out, "As soon as this government took power, the Moon Jae-in administration leaked and disclosed sensitive diplomatic issues related to the Korea-Japan comfort women agreement during the Park Geun-hye administration, including conversations between President Park Geun-hye and Prime Minister Shinzo Abe," adding, "They also disclosed conversations between President Obama and President Park Geun-hye. They disclose sensitive diplomatic issues when they need to, but when we request, they say how can diplomatic issues be disclosed? This is a double standard."
