Hanwha Total Supports Local Farms and SMEs with 'Seosan Bapsang'
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Total announced on the 4th that it held the 'Seosan Table Day' event, purchasing agricultural and marine products from the Seosan area in Chungnam, where the company is located, and delivering them to the cafeterias of domestic client companies.
Hanwha Total's 'Seosan Table Day' was planned as a win-win cooperation initiative to revitalize the distribution of local agricultural and marine products suffering from poor sales due to COVID-19, while supporting the cafeteria operations of small and medium-sized client companies.
About 30 million KRW worth of Seosan specialty products such as rice, garlic, gim (seaweed), gamtae (a type of seaweed), and nakji jeotgal (fermented octopus) were purchased for this event. The funds for purchasing agricultural and marine products were provided through the fund that Hanwha Total annually contributes to the Foundation for Large and Small Enterprises and Agriculture-Fishery Cooperation.
Seosan specialty products were served on the tables of employees at 25 domestic client companies of Hanwha Total nationwide. The surprise gift delivered ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday received enthusiastic responses from the client companies.
Additionally, Hanwha Total is using this event as an opportunity to promote Seosan local specialties together with the Foundation for Large and Small Enterprises and Agriculture-Fishery Cooperation. They are sending purchase guides for the specialties tasted at 'Seosan Table Day' to client companies nationwide, promoting sales and facilitating purchase connections.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Total is carrying out various social contribution activities to practice coexistence with the Chungnam Seosan and Daesan areas where the company is located.
In addition to donating funds collected by employees to local organizations to improve community welfare, they operate mobile volunteer services such as laundry trucks, meal trucks, and vehicles for the disabled, and support study rooms for children from low-income families to assist vulnerable groups in the region. They also regularly provide scholarships and school development funds to help local youth realize their dreams and grow into talented individuals, and offer new educational opportunities by holding environmental and science classes.
In particular, last year, to help the local community overcome COVID-19, Hanwha Total's labor and management jointly raised a disaster fund of 100 million KRW to deliver masks, hand sanitizers, and purchase and donate protective suits necessary for quarantine activities, leading continuous social contribution activities to promote coexistence with the local community.
