6 Our Neighborhood Care Centers Opened in Dongjak-gu
On the 22nd, six Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Centers open, providing after-school care services... Available for elementary students aged 6 to under 12, accessible via Our Neighborhood Kiwoom Portal after application
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will open six "Our Neighborhood Care Centers" for after-school care for elementary school students on the 22nd.
Our Neighborhood Care Centers are spaces designed to eliminate blind spots in care for elementary school students by providing after-school care services, allowing children to play safely.
The district started with the first Our Neighborhood Care Center in Noryangjin 2-dong in June 2019 and expanded to the second center in Sindaebang 1-dong and the third in Sadang 5-dong last year.
The newly opened Care Centers ▲4th branch in Noryangjin 1-dong (142-1 Jangseungbaegi-ro) ▲5th branch in Sangdo 1-dong (41 Sangdo-ro 53-gil) ▲6th branch in Sinsangdo (50 Yangnyeong-ro 29-gil) ▲7th branch in Sadang 2-dong (30 Dongjak-daero 29ga-gil) ▲8th branch in Sadang 3-dong (261 Sadang-ro) ▲9th branch in Daebang-dong (28 Almata-gil) are all within a 10-minute walk from home or school.
Prior to opening, preparations were completed including the establishment of distinctive spaces and educational tools, and continuous monitoring and consulting will be conducted for the efficient operation of the Care Centers.
The centers operate from 1 PM to 7 PM on weekdays, and during vacation periods from 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. A manager and full-time teachers are stationed to provide daily life education, play activities, experiential learning, and after-school gap care.
The types of care services include "full-day care," "hourly care" where users can select desired days and times, and "emergency care" available during school closures such as those caused by COVID-19.
Currently, as part of COVID-19 response measures, only emergency care is provided. Strict adherence to infection prevention protocols is maintained, including temperature checks for children, center disinfection, and provision of quarantine supplies.
The usage fee is 50,000 KRW per month including snacks, with meal fees during vacations charged separately.
Children aged 6 to under 12 years old can use the service regardless of parental income level, and applications can be made through the Our Neighborhood Care Portal or by visiting the center.
For more detailed information, inquiries can be made to the Child and Youth Division.
Park Joo-il, head of the Child and Youth Division, stated, "We plan to establish a dense care environment with the goal of one Care Center per neighborhood," adding, "We will create a happy Dongjak where parents can entrust their children with peace of mind through quality care services and safe spaces."
