Sejong-si, Continuous Removal of 'Illegal Advertisements' Near Schools
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City has decided to conduct regular maintenance to remove illegal advertisements proliferating near schools.
The city announced on the 3rd that it will promote a public-private joint task force for the regular removal of illegal advertisements, focusing on areas near schools and school routes located in the new town.
Illegal advertisements installed near schools and along school routes not only spoil the urban landscape but also pose a risk of traffic safety accidents to students, who are relatively smaller in stature than adults, making continuous maintenance necessary.
In particular, the city explained that the previous mass clean-up efforts were concentrated around the start of each school year, resulting in only temporary effects, highlighting the need for a regular maintenance system.
Accordingly, the city plans to conduct mobile maintenance of illegal advertisements at least twice a month, focusing on kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools in the new town area.
Additionally, companies contracted for illegal advertisement removal and members of the Outdoor Advertising Association will participate in continuous undercover patrols daily, and immediate crackdowns will be carried out upon receiving reports from residents.
Illegal advertisements caught in the crackdown will be immediately removed, and fines of up to 5 million KRW may be imposed.
