Volvo Cars Opens New Open Platform 'Innovation Portal'
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Volvo Cars announced on the 1st that it has opened the 'Innovation Portal,' an open platform that provides various development resources to external developers for the development of new services and vehicle applications.
Volvo Cars explained that this reflects their commitment to developing easier and more convenient user experiences, high-quality vehicle apps, and safer cars through innovative and creative approaches.
The Innovation Portal offers free resources including ▲an emulator that replicates the Android Automotive OS and Google apps installed in new Volvo cars, ▲Extended Vehicle API, ▲LiDAR data sets, ▲3D model resources, and simulators.
Volvo Cars expects that by expanding the scope of software and service development together with external developers, the possibility of providing more personalized experiences to customers in the future will increase. The Innovation Portal is also expected to assist not only developers but also researchers, smart home builders, and computer-based artists.
Henrik Green, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Volvo Cars, said, "As our cars become smarter and more connected, the demand for apps and services among customers is increasing," adding, "To support developers both inside and outside the company, we will open various development resources and collaborate with the best companies in each field."
