[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Hanwha Hotels & Resorts announced on the 1st that it will temporarily offer a holiday food TO GO product created together by Plaza Hotel chefs and head housewives from Jongga families nationwide to celebrate the Seollal holiday. This product features traditional holiday heirloom dishes from seven Jongga families across the country, prepared in collaboration with hotel chefs.
Due to the government's social distancing guidelines, including a ban on gatherings of five or more people (including immediate family) and reservation limits to two-thirds of room capacity, it has become difficult to enjoy the Seollal holiday with relatives. Additionally, cold damage to crops caused by the ongoing cold wave since early this year has led to increased vegetable prices, placing a greater burden on households. In this situation, the hotel expects that many customers will appreciate being able to enjoy holiday dishes made together by hotel chefs and traditional Jongga head housewives at reasonable prices.
The Seollal TO GO product is designed to allow customers to choose from dishes such as Korean beef bone soup with rice cake (Hanwoo Sagol Tteokguk), LA galbi grilled ribs, beef japchae, galbijjim (braised short ribs), jeon (Korean pancakes), namu (wood ear mushrooms), and grilled chamgulbi (dried yellow corvina). All menus are based on traditional Jongga family recipes, standardized by hotel chefs. Prices range from 68,000 KRW to 350,000 KRW.
