[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] MZ generation (born early 1980s to early 2000s) public officials, who will open the future of the public service, and Jeon Hae-cheol, Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, will meet online.
On the 1st, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that Minister Jeon and about 50 members of the Government Innovation Avengers will gather to share honest thoughts on working methods, organizational culture, and generational differences in the public service. The Government Innovation Avengers is an intergovernmental network connecting meetings such as junior boards by agency that discuss government innovation plans, consisting of about 500 public officials from 43 central administrative agencies.
This dialogue is the first meeting between the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Government Innovation Avengers since 2021, serving as a time to share past achievements and listen to members' opinions on future activity plans.
Minister Jeon plans to share and communicate sincere thoughts from a young and fresh perspective on public service culture and working methods in line with the rapidly changing times. During this dialogue, the contents of the Government Innovation Avengers communication booklet, "The Public Official Born in the 90s Has Arrived," which received high acclaim within the public service, will be shared, and Avengers members will express their reflections on the book.
This book was published to reduce the gap and increase understanding between different generations working together in the public service, containing honest thoughts and improvement plans on working methods and organizational culture from the perspective of young public officials.
Recently, President Moon Jae-in gifted this book to all Blue House staff with a recommendation saying, "A heart that wants to wake up and move changes culture. Are you inclined to listen and nod to the honest words of the new generation? Shall we start with communication with the public and intergenerational communication among public officials? Let's create joy, pleasure, and shared inspiration together."
During the dialogue chaired directly by Minister Jeon, honest thoughts of Avengers members will be discussed on ▲public service culture innovation plans, ▲working methods in the digital age, and ▲ways to resolve generational gaps in the public service. Based on the opinions and directions presented by the Government Innovation Avengers in this dialogue, active promotion of government innovation is planned.
Minister Jeon said, "Government innovation is not just a slogan but practice that tries to change small things on the ground, and public service culture innovation must be supported," adding, "Our ministry has recently expanded video meetings and video reports and introduced a smart reporting system that allows online report reservations to improve the efficiency of actual working methods."
