According to the political circles in the Gwangju area on the 29th, Governor Lee visited the 5·18 National Cemetery alone late in the afternoon amid heavy snowfall, and then spent about 30 minutes walking around the new and old burial sites.
Before paying respects that day, Governor Lee wrote in the guestbook at the National Cemetery Management Office, "My social mother Gwangju, you are always in my heart." He has repeatedly stated that Gwangju is his spiritual mentor and hometown whenever he had the opportunity.
