Hanmi Semiconductor Wins Final Supreme Court Ruling in GenSem Patent Infringement Lawsuit
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Hanmi Semiconductor, a semiconductor equipment developer, announced on the 29th that it has received a final victory from the Supreme Court in a patent infringement injunction lawsuit filed against Jenersem.
The Supreme Court Civil Division 2 upheld the second trial ruling that recognized Jenersem's unauthorized use of the core patented technology of Hanmi Semiconductor's representative product, the 'Vision Placement' equipment, and ordered the prohibition of production and sales of the product, dismissing the appeal without further review.
Vision Placement is an essential semiconductor production equipment that performs cleaning, drying, inspection, sorting, and stacking processes of semiconductor packages cut from wafers. Hanmi Semiconductor's product holds an 80% share of the global market.

Separately from the patent infringement lawsuit regarding Jenersem's Vision Placement equipment core technology, Hanmi Semiconductor has filed another patent infringement lawsuit. The first trial ruling is currently pending.
