High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Confirmed at Poultry Farms in Pocheon, Paju, Icheon, and Anseong, Gyeonggi
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Four poultry farms in Gyeonggi Province were confirmed to have highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) on the 27th.
The Central AI Countermeasures Headquarters announced that on the same day, suspected cases of highly pathogenic AI at four locations?Pocheon layer farm (breeding scale 39,000 birds), Paju layer farm (137,000 birds), Icheon broiler breeder farm (24,000 birds), and Anseong broiler breeder farm (19,000 birds)?were all confirmed positive.
H5 antigens were detected at these farms, and after detailed testing, they were confirmed as highly pathogenic.
Accordingly, the Central Countermeasures Headquarters implemented preventive culling of poultry within a 3km radius of the affected farms, a 30-day movement restriction and comprehensive inspection of poultry farms within a 10km radius, and a 7-day movement restriction on all poultry farms in Pocheon, Paju, Icheon, and Anseong as part of quarantine measures.

A representative from the Central Countermeasures Headquarters emphasized, "It is crucial that farm owners strictly adhere to basic biosecurity rules," and urged, "Please thoroughly practice daily measures such as applying slaked lime, cleaning and disinfecting farmyards, changing boots, and disinfecting inside the poultry houses."
