[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is launching a funeral support project for national veterans.
On the 26th, Guro-gu announced, "Starting next month, we will provide funeral convenience items and funeral services to honor national veterans who have sacrificed and devoted themselves to the country."
The support targets are national veterans registered as residents in Guro-gu who passed away while residing there, with funeral halls located in the metropolitan area. This includes Independence Patriots, National Veterans, War Veterans, Special Mission Veterans, May 18 Democratic Patriots, and Agent Orange Victims (those with grade certification), as well as one primary bereaved family member holding a bereaved family certificate.
Guro-gu will provide the bereaved families of national veterans with a total of 27 types of funeral convenience items such as toiletries, towels, socks, condolence money bags, and a Guro-gu condolence flag.
Consulting services through funeral directors affiliated with professional funeral companies will also be offered.
The funeral director will visit the funeral hall in person to inform the bereaved families about the funeral procedures and install the condolence flag.
Applications can be made by contacting the Welfare Policy Division of Guro-gu Office by phone on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and during weekday evenings and holidays, by contacting the General Situation Room of the district office.
